These are examples of my skills when it comes to visual storytelling. I have worked in television news for nearly two decades, and I'm constantly fine-tuning my storytelling skills. This showcases some of my best work using writing, audio, and images to work together to tell a complete story.

Bomb Cyclone Aftermath

A tornado warning and a bomb cyclone made for a crazy 24 hours in Western Washington. he winds brought wide-spread damage. Everything from homes to cars to buses were crushed by falling trees and utility poles. Hundreds of thousands of people were without power. As families hunkered down, the KOMO News team got to work, providing breaking updates to keep people safe. Our field crews faced many obstacles but managed to overcome everything from weak cell signals, numerous roadblocks, downed trees, and down power lines to provide a much-needed service for our viewers.

Ice Storm

A once-in-a-decade winter threat takes aim at Western Washington. The region was paralyzed by a thick coat of ice caused by hours and hours of freezing rain. Everything outside was under a sheet of ice. Flights were cancelled; cars, trucks, and people were slipping and sliding everywhere. Crews were racing to restore power to thousands after ice-covered trees and utility poles brought down power lines. KOMO News had crews in every corner of the region, bringing important and potentially life-saving information to our viewers waiting for everything to thaw.

KOMO MNF Pregame Show 

Russell Returns! For the first time since he was traded to the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson comes back to Seattle for one of the most highly anticipated NFL matchups of the 2022 season. I produced this pregame show for KOMO which aired immediately before the Monday Night Football game on ABC.

School Shooting & Election Day

An extended edition of KOMO News at 5pm for special coverage of the deadly school shooting at Seattle's Ingraham High School, and for the 2022 midterm elections.

Breaking News: Ingraham Shooting

Winner of 2022 NATAS NW Emmy Award for Breaking News. This is my coverage of the November 8, 2022 school shooting at Seattle's Ingraham High School.

I-5 Explosions & Ferry Crash

A fiery and explosive scene as a truck carrying flammable gas tanks catches fire on I-5, right in the heart of Seattle. Meanwhile, a Washington State Ferry makes a hard landing at a ferry terminal severely damaging the boat and the dock.

CHOP Cleared

Seattle under siege! Protesters in the Black Lives Matter and Defund Police movements take over six city block in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, including the Seattle Police East Precinct. A 23-day standoff finally comes to a head on July 1st, as teams of heavily armed Seattle police officers move in and retake the area. The group of protesters formed the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest Zone or CHOP, following the Seattle Police Department’s response to the George Floyd Riots and protests downtown at the end of May 2020.

November Storm

Winner of 2015 NATAS NW Emmy Award for Best Morning Newscast. This is an 11am Newscast for KOMO TV's coverage an incoming wind storm. As producer, I led a team of about 20 people to create this newscast. While the windstorm ended up being a bit underwhelming, the newscast was praised for overall content, presentation, enterprise, format, and writing.

KOMO Town Hall: Seattle Head Tax

Just days after the Seattle City Council passed a controversial tax on big business, KOMO tasked me to put together this special. It's a town hall discussion with important stakeholders involved in the issue. Normally, a project like this takes several weeks. I had to produce this from scratch in seven hours.
